How I made my autumn leaves bib necklace

Hello! Hope your week has been good so far. I'm back to share how I made my autumn leaves inspired bib necklace.

Materials in the photo: A small piece of cardboard, lace ribbon, satin ribbon, felt and/or cloth, fabric glue and assorted buttons
Materials not in the photos: Basic sewing equipment, stationery, 2 safety pins

1: Draw leaves of different sizes on the cardboard and cut them out. Place them on the felt and cut around the edge of the cardboard template.
2: Sew the veins of the leaf. I used zigzag stitch and straight stitch for my leaves.

3: Draw leaves of different sizes on the checked cloth and sew along the drawing using zigzag stitch.
4: Cut away the extra cloth outside the stitching.

The felt autumn leaves are done! If u don't have a sewing machine, you can also sew the veins by hand using running stitch (see the red leaf with ribbon veins above).

5: Cut out a crescent shaped felt. I used the neckline of my favorite tanktop as a guide.

6 - 7: Arrange the felt leaves, buttons and lace ribbons on the crescent shaped felt base. I pinned the felt leaves and lace ribbons onto the felt base so that I can hold half-finished bib necklace to my chest and check out how it looks like.
If you are satisfied with the design, we can put everything together!

8 - 9: Paste the felt leaves using fabric glue on the crescent shaped felt base. Sew on the buttons.

10: To wear it as a bib necklace, attach the satin lace using safety pins. You can sew the ribbon onto the felt base too. (I didn't sew the ribbon onto the felt base because I couldn't decide whether I wanted it gold or dark brown. =b )

Note: I glued a thicker felt to the back of my bib necklace. The felt base I used was too thin and the bib necklace couldn't stay flat when I wore it.

It's ready and time for me to wear it out!
Hee, I'm feeling oh-so-crafty now.
