What's your real Identity?

Do you hate your Identity Card photos? I do.

I obtained my first Identity Card at age 12 (now they have increased the age to 15). Subsequently, we get to renew our ID at age 30. Well, I got my new one done recently, and damn I hate my photo (oops, now you guys know my age, in fact I'm turning 31 this Sept).

Initially I thought that a new ID was great news, as I hardly look like my old 12 year old face. Unfortunately I was brutally reminded of why I dislike ID photos when I had to take the new photo. It is the fact that I have to sweep my fringe to reveal my entire forehead and eyebrows! I had grown side sweep bangs before in the past years, but I never had to sweep them to such "extremity" till I feel so bare. I've gotten so comfortable behind my dear hair that it's like depriving me of my security blanket! Gosh, I had forgotten how dear my fringe has been to me (and how high a forehead I have).  Do you have such strong reliance of your fringe too??

Top Right: My first ID photo circa 1994
Bottom Right: My current ID photo

Come to think of it, I look quite different with and without my fringe. It's really like having 2 different identities.

Oh well, taking my new ID photo got me reminiscing about the past. Well, I was way thinner, and wore specs (I've got Lasik done a number of years back). I also remember about my blue pinafore school uniform, so my outfit today is inspired by my youthful days prancing around elementary school.

I thought this dropped waist chambray blue dress is like a cuter version of my uniform. I paired it with white brogues, as we had to wear white shoes during my uniform days. I still remember having to "paint" my white canvas shoes with white kiwi nightly to keep it white, or we would get scolded by teachers for having dirty shoes. To prevent myself from looking exactly like donning a uniform, I added a brightly coloured necklace, something that I could not do back then. During our days, "uniformity" is very important, so one cannot try to be different by wearing accessories.

So do I resemble myself circa 1991? Try to spot me in the photo (it's super easy)!
