Do you have days where you feel summer heat is just unbearable? Ha ha, I feel that almost 365 days. As Singapore is a tropical country, we do not have seasons and heat in the summer months are even worse. Actually the main culprit is not the heat, but our very high humidity levels (of average 85%) which makes me perspire just minutes out from the house. I truly hate that sticky feeling and I think it has very much molded the way Singaporeans dress (t-shirt, shorts and flip flops).
Vests have become my go-to item when I want to layer my outfit as jackets are too warm for layering in our weather. I like it that I can layer a more formal vest over simple outfit to dress up and rugged denim ones to dress down pretty frocks. All that layering done minus the heat!
So to dress up my shorts, I added this tweed vest with lace details then layered pearl necklaces to add feminine touches to a otherwise too casual shorts.

Heat year round, wow, I don't know if I could do that! But I'm glad you can layer with vesets. Those shorts are quite cute!!

oh my goodness... I hate humidity so much. Major props to you for looking so gorgeous and fabulous during such a humid day. I would probably look like a sweaty mess. That's why I usually hide in my basement during humid days hahha. What a lovely outfit!! and I LOVE YOUR BAG!! :)
