Stand out in Neon

The 80s was a time where you can never get too colourful, whether in your make up or in your outfit. People of the 80s wore multi colours all over their eyes and totally adored the wacky neon coloured clothes.
As wacky as it may seemed, the neon trend is back and these crazy colours are rocking runways once more.

This neon trend was the inspiration for my DIY project this month. I found a pair of heels in an outdated bronze colour and gave them new life in neon yellow!
What you need - A pair of heels, a white primer spray, a neon yellow spray (important: check that the sprays are suitable for plastic), masking tape and newspaper

1. Protect the areas where you don't want any neon colours, e.g. soles and heels with masking tape and newspaper. This is really important so that the final product looks clean and with no stains. Then remove the ankle straps (if any).
2. Following the instructions on the spray can, spray the heels and straps with the white primer. Re-coat if necessary. I did two coats of white primer.
3. Allow the white primer paint to dry completely according to the drying time as advised on the spray can.
3. Following the instructions on the spray can, spray the heels and straps with the neon yellow. Re-coat if necessary. I did two coats of neon yellow.
4. Then allow the spray paint to dry completely according to the drying time as advised on the spray can.
5. Lastly, carefully peel off the masking tapes and remove the newspaper.
Time to rock the neon trend with my eye popping neon yellow heels!
Seeing the old heels totally transformed was the coolest part of the project. Hah, if you look close enough, you will see all the uneven coating of paint. I definitely need more practice with spray painting!

  6. I'll be honest-- I'm not a fan of the neon trend. I think it's because it's too 80s for me. I know, how weird, right? especially coming from a girl who LOVES to wear her hair in a side ponytail! But I DO dig neon accessories like your shoes! Such a cool DIY!
