When was the last time you took your fashion inspiration from your mom? I remember loving to raid my mom's closet when I was around 12 years of age. Though I don't have photos to show you guys, but my memory of my mom's fashion was long dresses and parsley prints. You guessed right, the item I loved to steal from her was her long flora skirts and dresses. I remembered her trying to pass me a dress she made during her younger years (that would be when she was in her 20s, in the 1970s), it was a short apron dress in bright flora prints with bright yellow buttons. Alas. I was too plump to fit in.
Apron Dress: Vintage (from Japan)
Slip: Far East
Bangles: GIfts
Daisy Headband: H&M
Sandels: Shubar
I found this vintage apron dress during my trip to Japan. I had no idea why I got attracted to this particular dress out of so many gems in that amazing little shop. Thinking back, it could be because it reminded me very much of my mom's style.
That's me and the very cool sales staff of the vintage shop in Japan.
So what do you miss about your mom's fashion? :)
P.S: I was thinking of altering my dress short, which do you think is nicer? Short? Long?
Ash :o)
I would make your dress a little shorter. Perfect for summer and stick tights under it for winter!

Aww..such a charming dress, love the vintage appeal it has and you look beautiful in it. I prefer it in this length, it got a bohemian maxi thing going for it ;)

aww how lovely that you gravitated towards it because of your mom : )
ReplyDeletei would probably keep it the way it is, though i prefer a shorter length, simply because i think it'll lose a little bit of its "vintage character" you know? : )
how adorable is this apron! so cute!
ReplyDeleteohh the apron is so adorable!!
ReplyDeleteOh I'd keep this long! The long version has the boho 1970s vibe! I've not been to japan in over 20 years, what an amazing store you were in!
ReplyDeleteahww, the dress is so sweet! (:
ReplyDeleteyou have a really nice blog, like to follow each other? =)
this is just too cute! My mom and I have totally different styles and totally different body types, really. She was never much of a dresser-upper, but I did like her very simple wedding ensemble with blue flowers in her hair!
ReplyDeleteI really LOVE this apron dress-- it's just soooo kitschy cool!
